We do not recommend ignoring a crying baby because it may indicate discomfort, hunger, or
the need for a diaper change. However, here are some options for soothing a crying baby:
- Check for Basic Needs: Make sure your infant isn’t hungry, in need of a diaper change,
or has a burp. - Rocking: Gently rock your infant in your arms or use a rocker or cradle. This motion is
similar to what your baby felt inside the womb. - To soothe your infant, play peaceful music or make white noise sounds like a fan,
vacuum cleaner, hairdryer, or the hushing sound. - Swaddling: Wrap your baby in a blanket snuggly to make them feel more secure and
warm. - Pacifier: A pacifier can be used to soothe your baby.
If your baby’s weeping does not stop, it is always best to consult a pediatrician or other
healthcare practitioners
