Your house is one of the best schools for learning a language, and you and your family members
make for the ideal instructors. But how can parents who don’t speak English well be effective home English teachers?
Ten strategies are listed below that will assist your child in honing his or her English:
Assist your child with finding entertaining activities in English
What hobbies does your youngster enjoy? He/she could be able to sign up for a sports team, enrol in a dancing or art class at the community center, or attend the library’s weekend events. They won’t be aware of how hard his mind is working to improve his English if he’s having fun.
Read to your youngster in either language every day.
Children who read frequently develop great linguistic skills. It also helps to read in any language! If you like, alternate between reading aloud in your original tongue and English. (In some publications, the two languages are written on the same page!) Either you or your child can read aloud to the other person. Children’s books are wonderful because they are filled with illustrations that make it easier to understand what is occurring when you don’t know what a word means.
Occasionally watch and listen to English-language videos.
Perhaps you establish a rule stating that the family must listen to music in own language while driving and in English while at home. Or perhaps you watch English-language television on Fridays with and local films on Saturdays. The most easiest way, let your kids watch English learning videos such as phonics in YouTube
Hire English-speaking babysitters.
When Grandma or Grandpa babysits your youngster, it’s a terrific opportunity for him to practise the language of his family. But you might also pay the sweet high school student neighbour to watch your kid a few times a month. She probably doesn’t charge that much, and your youngster will learn a lot of English from her. Inform her that in addition to look after the kids, part of her duty is to naturally teach them English by playing, reading, and conversing with them in English.

Assist your child in finding English-speaking pals
Your youngster will have pleasure playing with pals, and it costs you nothing. Ask your child’s teacher for assistance if you are uncertain of which children might make good companions. She will be able to tell who is a competent English speaker and a good buddy for your kid. You can arrange a “playdate” by inviting the child to your home or meeting up at the playground. Invite the parents around for a cup of tea if it’s your first time meeting them; you might also make a nice adult friend who can assist you with your English.
